Project: The Artisan Forge, SUPERSHED (enclosure-driven warehouse concept)
Deliverable: Full enclosure drawing set with plans, elevations, sections, and cladding details
Focus: High-performance assemblies, thermal continuity, constructability, and clean detailing across multiple façade system
The Artisan Forge was developed as an enclosure-first warehouse concept where material transitions, thermal continuity, and moisture control drive the design. The envelope strategy balances durability and buildability by using repeatable wall assemblies, clear drainage/ventilation layers, and consistent air/water/vapour control, while allowing distinct façade identities (wood, stone, brick, and fibre-reinforced concrete) to wrap a simple structural form.
The building is organized under a double-pitched roof truss system supported by 200×200 HSS columns and wide flange beams, creating an efficient clear-span interior appropriate for workshop and warehouse use.
Brick veneer incorporates a drainage cavity, continuous insulation, and structural backup. Lintel, sill, and flashing conditions were detailed to manage water effectively and prevent thermal breaks.
Horizontal wood siding is installed over a vented rainscreen cavity with continuous exterior insulation and control layers over CMU backup. The assembly promotes outward drying while maintaining thermal continuity.
Stone veneer is supported by a clip-and-rail system over a ventilated cavity and continuous insulation. The layered assembly balances mass and performance while ensuring proper drainage and anchorage.
Panelized concrete cladding is installed over a ventilated cavity and insulated backup wall. Attachment strategies were coordinated to maintain control layer continuity and structural integrity.
