CÆMEZ Community Centre is conceived as an integrated civic facility that brings recreation, learning, and social spaces together within a cohesive architectural framework. Located at Cambridge Sports Park, the two-storey centre combines a gymnasium, library, multipurpose spaces, café and lounge, outdoor courtyard, and roof terrace, with architecture, structure, enclosure, mechanical, and life-safety systems developed in parallel. Structural framing, HVAC distribution, envelope assemblies, and building services were coordinated with the architectural layout to respond to the varied demands of large-span recreation spaces, public gathering areas, and smaller occupied spaces, resulting in a technically resolved community building where architectural expression and engineering systems operate as a unified design.

The community centre is positioned within Cambridge Sports Park, connecting directly to existing recreational facilities, parking, and outdoor fields while establishing a prominent presence along Can-Amera Parkway and Shearson Crescent.

At 1:200, the site plan illustrates the community centre’s immediate relationship to Shearson Crescent, detailing vehicular and pedestrian circulation, parking and accessible spaces, primary and emergency entrances, service/loading access, and connections to the courtyard and adjacent Cæmez Field.

Elevations:
The exterior composition differentiates the centre's major program volumes through masonry, panelized cladding, curtain wall glazing, and expressed structural elements, while maintaining a consistent material language around the courtyard and primary entrance.
Sections:
Large-span recreational spaces are integrated with two-storey public and support spaces, allowing visual connections between the gymnasium, concourse, library, and upper-level circulation while accommodating distinct structural and servicing requirements.
Plans:
The floor plans establish a clear spatial sequence between recreation, learning, social, and support programs, organized around shared circulation and gathering spaces. Visual and physical connections between key spaces create an intuitive progression through the building while maintaining distinct zones suited to each program’s functional needs.

Detailed envelope sections resolve key transitions between curtain wall, masonry, roof, floor, and foundation assemblies. The details coordinate thermal continuity, structural support, glazing systems, and material interfaces across several façade conditions, translating the architectural expression into buildable assemblies.
